Free, self-paced mini course
Attachment Basics
Understand how safety, closeness and distance can shape relationships, without reducing yourself to a label.
A clear path, without pressure.
Seven short lessons with teaching, private reflection and small activities. Learn what attachment means, notice a pattern in context and practise a more flexible response.
This course is designed for adults curious about their responses to closeness, distance or uncertainty in relationships. Across seven modules, you will build an understanding of the pattern, practise one skill at a time and create a plan that can survive ordinary life. You can complete it in one sitting, but spacing the modules across several days usually creates more opportunity to practise.
The material is psychology-informed education rather than therapy, diagnosis or individual medical advice. Evidence can identify promising approaches; it cannot tell us exactly what one person needs. Keep what is useful, adapt what is not and involve qualified support when the problem is persistent, severe, complex or connected with safety.
Why connection can feel urgent
attachment as a human safety system rather than a personality flaw
Open module →Module 2How expectations are learned
how repeated experiences can shape expectations of availability without fixing a person's future
Open module →Module 3Patterns without boxes
anxious, avoidant and secure responses as context-sensitive patterns rather than identity types
Open module →Module 4Spot the activation cycle
how a cue, an interpretation and a protective action can reinforce one another
Open module →Module 5Ask clearly and allow space
communicating a need without protest, mind-reading or forced disclosure
Open module →Module 6Repair after ordinary strain
recognising rupture, taking responsibility and checking whether repair is mutual
Open module →Module 7Make a small secure-base plan
bringing awareness, support and one repeatable action into daily life
Open module →Turn the course into one small plan.
Choose one idea to remember, one practice to repeat and one situation in which to use it. Then name the sign that would tell you to seek more support. A tiny plan you can recall is more useful than a long plan that disappears under pressure.
The clearest idea or skill from the course.
A small repetition you can try within 48 hours.
A person, service or professional you could involve.
